Since he first began practicing in 1982, George Badey has focused on a single mission: providing high-level legal representation to individuals whom the system might otherwise overlook. A South Philadelphia native and valedictorian of his class at South Philadelphia High School, George’s career is rooted in the neighborhoods he serves. Over the last four decades, he has built a reputation not just for winning cases, but for the longevity and loyalty he brings to his practice, a commitment perhaps best exemplified by his 40+ year partnership with his legal assistant, Kathleen.
As a founding partner of Badey, Sloan & DiGenova, George has secured hundreds of six-figure recoveries and dozens of seven and eight-figure jury trial wins. While his trial record is extensive, George is most recognized for his work in the appellate courts. He doesn’t simply accept the law as it is; when he encounters a precedent that unfairly favors insurance companies over workers, he takes the fight to the highest levels.
His recent advocacy before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has resulted in landmark decisions, including Lorino v. WCAB and Jackiw v. Soft Pretzel Franchise. These victories were transformative for Pennsylvania’s legal landscape, removing “safe harbors” for insurance companies and ensuring that catastrophic injury victims receive the maximum benefits they deserve.
George’s standing in the legal community is reflected in his consistent recognition by peers and the judiciary. Based on confidential evaluations from attorneys and judges, he holds an “AV Preeminent” rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible mark for legal ability and ethics. Additionally, he has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for 23 consecutive years, a testament to his enduring excellence in personal injury and workers’ compensation law. His expertise has also led him to serve as a Judge Pro Tem for the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas and as a lecturer to judges at the National Judicial College.
Despite his success in high-level litigation, George remains deeply connected to Philadelphia’s local traditions. A longtime participant in the Mummers Parade, he brings that same South Philly grit to the courtroom. Whether he is arguing a complex case in Harrisburg or spending time in the city where he was raised, George remains a steadfast advocate for the hard-working people of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
We’ve never wanted to be a ‘factory firm.’ To me, that means we aren't a legal mill cranking clients through a system like they’re widgets. When we decide to represent you, you’ll meet with your attorney from day one. I believe every case is personal, and because of that, we are willing to take the long road, even if that road leads to the Supreme Court, to make sure the law actually works for the people it’s meant to protect.
